Solstice is a family of sensors and peripherals that communicate using an I2C protocol. The family currently consists of seven boards. From left to right: Temperature, Humidity, Port Expander, Analog to Digital Converter, Digital to Analog Converter, Pressure and Current. These boards can be used in two ways. For the engineer who wants to test out a design component before including it in his or her design, this boards allow a low cost, rapid and low risk way of testing out an idea. Each board comes with a Bill of Materials, pdf schematic, Altium Schematic sheet, Altium Schematic Library and Altium Footprint library. This will allow the engineer to copy and paste directly into their design and begin to incorporate it as needed. The second way to use these boards is for the home hobbyist, maker, tinkerer or electronics and science enthusiast. These boards were designed to be compatible with prototyping boards such as the Arduino, Raspberry Pi and other microcontroller platforms.

SF-7 Current Sensor

The SF-7 is based on the Texas Instruments INA138 High-Side Measurement Current Shunt Monitor. It has a maximum input voltage of 36V and is designed to measure currents between 10mA and 500mA. It uses a 0.1-ohm sense resistor and has a transimpedance gain of 4V/A. An antialiasing filter of 15.4khz is placed after a unity gain buffer that feeds a Texas Instruments ADC121C027 12-bit analog to digital converter. There is one jumper that allows the user to select between three addresses. The ADC reference is connected to VDD so the resolution is based on the voltage applied to the device. It communicates using a 2-wire interface compatible with I2CTM which supports Standard (100kHz), Fast (400kHz), and High Speed (3.4MHz) Modes. It has an out of range alert flag readable as part of the conversion register.

SF-1 Temperature Sensor

SF-1 Temperature Sensor

The SF-1 is based on the Microchip TCN75 2-Wire Serial Temperature Sensor. It has a resolution of ±1°C from -40°C to +125°C.  The resolution can be set, by the user, to one of 4 selections from 0.5°C to 0.0625°C.  The input voltage can be between 2.7V and 5.5V.  It communicates using a 2-wire interface compatible with I2CTM.  There are three jumpers that allow the user to select the sensor communication address. Typical power consumption is 200 µA.
